Susan Bennett, senior director

Susan heads up the Career and Professional Development initiative promoting a university-wide culture committed to “Knowledge That Works.” She applies her extensive experience consulting on career management success in higher education and industry to the goal of creating synergies across campus and within the employment community on behalf of students and alumni. “UB is in a perfect position to provide leadership in the critical exchange between students seeking employment and employers seeking talent. With faculty committed to student success, students with strong work ethics and alumni holding leadership roles in the community, the opportunities abound.”

Ray McCree, director

Ray oversees all services provided to students, alumni and employers in the Career and Professional Development Center. He has over 16 years of professional experience in higher education, serving in various roles in academic and student support services. He enjoys developing students and staff so that they may someday reach their full potential personally and professionally. He says, “Investing a balance of growth in oneself and others benefits us all.”

Meredith Barr, manager, career and professional services

Meredith manages the front-line operations, technology and marketing for the center as well as oversees the Professional Development Institute. As a StrengthsQuest advocate for UB’s campus, Meredith provides training and support to students and staff in the implementation of a strengths-based approach to work, school and life. "Developing one's strengths is extremely uplifting and far more productive than trying to fix weaknesses. Building confidence through an awareness of one's talents and their application in the world can make a world of difference."

Malka Weintraub, career coach and licensed counselor

Malka coaches and counsels students and alumni to achieve their personal, educational and professional goals. She administers and interprets career assessments to assist students and alumni with career decisions and transitions. She has initiated, developed and now leads job search groups that have received national recognition. She leads workshops and teaches classes on career management and job search strategies. Malka has over 15 years' successful professional experience in government, non-profit, private industry and higher education. Malka says, “Your success is my primary goal!”

Jessica Johnson, job development and internship coordinator

Jessica manages all aspects of the internship program—working with students, faculty and employers. She also serves as the primary contact for off-campus student employment opportunities. She is very excited to build upon her higher education career at UB and is an advocate of students’ completing an internship while studying at UB. Jessica believes, “The benefits of an internship are endless. It helps a student gain experience in their chosen field, builds their resume, grows their network, and much more.”

Amy Diggins, student employment coordinator

Amy advises undergraduate and graduate students in making decisions regarding campus employment. Her primary job is to assist students who are seeking job opportunities on campus while pursuing their studies. Her passion is supporting students and engaging students on their personal and professional development. “It feels good when students return to my office to thank me for being instrumental in their career development.”
