Volunteer Opportunities

Committee members work to strengthen the annual giving program by helping to increase participation in annual giving among alumni and in expressing appreciation to alumni for past support. The Backpack to Briefcase (B2B) program brings UB alumni back into the classroom to share their experiences with students. Alumni provide students with career options and advice specific to their programs of study. Each year, hundreds of students, faculty, staff and alumni volunteer a day of their time, creating positive change in communities throughout the Greater Baltimore region. Volunteer groups travel to more than a dozen service sites -- beautifying neighborhoods, rehabbing houses, repainting schools, mentoring youth, providing food to those in need, and more. PDI is a one-on-one formal mentoring program that helps students reach their full educational and career potential. The program matches students with faculty, staff, and alumni to explore interests and set career goals. The individualized plan helps students earn a competitive advantage by preparing them for the job market early in their education.
