The University of Baltimore will accept a maximum of 30 total credits earned in any combination from one or more of the following sources:
Whether or not and in what manner these credits can be applied toward graduation requirements will be determined by the appropriate academic office.
For transfer students, if these credits have been previously applied by another institution, they may be counted as contributing to the credits required for UB admission. In addition, a waiver to the 30-credit limit on these credits may be granted to transfer students by the appropriate academic office when they have contributed to completion of an associate degree.
AP credit may be applied toward general education requirements, general electives or, in specific cases, toward a major requirement. Under no circumstances can a single AP exam be awarded more than the number of credits indicated in the table. A single AP exam may be used to satisfy both a general education requirement and a major requirement if both standards are met. A single AP exam may not be used to satisfy both a general education requirement and a general elective or both a general elective requirement and a major requirement. If the listed UB equivalency is a general education requirement, the awarded credits may be substituted to satisfy a general elective.

Since CLEP exams are most often taken to fulfill general education and general elective requirements, CLEP scores are accepted for credit before completion of 90 credit hours. Once the student has begun the last 30 credits of study, CLEP scores are no longer accepted for credit. CLEP credit may be applied toward general education requirements, general electives or, in specific cases, toward a major requirement. Under no circumstances can a single CLEP exam be awarded more than the number of credits indicated in the table. A single CLEP exam may be used to satisfy both a general education requirement and a major requirement if both standards are met. A single CLEP exam may not be used to satisfy both a general education requirement and a general elective or both a general elective requirement and a major requirement. If the listed UB equivalency is a general education requirement, the awarded credits may be substituted to satisfy a general elective.

Students who have completed higher-level International Baccalaureate (IB) courses or the requirements for an IB diploma in high school and have successfully completed the corresponding IB examinations may be entitled to credit at the University of Baltimore. Students should have official exam scores sent from the International Baccalaureate Organization to UB. The Offices of Admission will review exam scores and determine credits awarded.
UB awards credit based on scores on the DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSST) and follows the recommendations of the American Council on Education regarding the numbers and types of credit awarded for minimum scores. Those who have training or learning experiences as military personnel and would like additional information should contact the Offices of Admission.
The University of Baltimore itself does not grant academic credit for occupational competency/life experience. It will, however, accept such credits, including institutional examination credits, upon transfer when they have been awarded by a regionally accredited academic institution and are documented on an official transcript.
