Click off your monitor every time you leave your office for more than 20 minutes. It's easy. Log off your computer in the evening. (OTS does upgrades at night)
If you leave the office for more than 5 minutes, turn the lights off.
Plugged in devices suck energy even when you do not use them. Consider unplugging before vacations.
Switching off a power strip enables turning off peripheral devices all at once. Turning off appliances is more efficient than idle modes.
Use Energy Star equipment. They pay for themselves.
Block extreme heat or cold by closing your blinds. At normal temperatures, turn off the lights, open the window blinds, and allow natural sun light to brighten your room .
If it is cold put on that extra sweater. Avoid energy hog space heaters.
Print less, use less, print in black and white, recycle what you can, use recycled items.
Take the stairs and not the elevator to and from the office.
Make a departmental sustainable plan. Coordinate together.
