Did you ever wonder if others from your community also travel to and from UB? We are a diverse population, made up of people from all over the state and a bit beyond.
Zimride is UB’s secure private ridesharing network.
Gone are the days of the sketchy campus ride—board! It’s a fun and
easy way to find friends, classmates, and colleagues who are going the
same way you are: to campus, concerts, the mall or wherever. Save money
by sharing the costs of gas, tolls and parking; help protect the
environment, and have more fun when you ride! If you’ve often got empty
seats in your car, or are looking for a ride, Zimride is the place to
get together.
Using your Net ID to access the site,
you first create a profile so that others can see who you are, what
kind of car you have (if you’re offering a ride), what music you like to
listen to, if you like to stop for coffee, and other helpful
identifying information. You can also leave feedback on someone’s
profile about the experience of a ride, good or bad. Zimride profiles
can also be linked to a Facebook account. It’s a good idea to post a
picture to your profile—people may recognize your face, but not yet know
your name. Then it’s quick and easy to post a ride, whether you’re
looking for one or offering one. You can post a one-time trip or a
regular commute.
Once your ride is posted, Zimride will offer a list of “matches”. The
most likely options are found at the top of this list. You can then
choose the best fit for you.
