Windows 7 Setup for Secure Wireless
Click the
Start
button and select
Control Panel
.
Select
Network and Sharing Center
.
Click
Set up a new connection or network
.
Select
Manually connect to a wireless network
.
Click
Next
.
In the window that opens, enter:
Network name
:
ubalt-secure
Security type
:
WPA2-Enterprise
Encryption type
:
AES
Security Key
: leave blank
Check the box for
Start this connection automatically
Check the box for
Connect even if the network is not broadcasting
Click
Next
.
Click
Change connection settings
.
In the next window, click the
Security
tab.
Under
Choose a network authentication method
, make sure
Microsoft: Protected EAP (PEAP)
is selected then click the
Settings
button.
Uncheck
Validate server certificate
then click the
Configure
button.
Uncheck the
Automatically use my Windows logon name and password
box.
Click
OK.
You will return to the Security tab.
On the
Security
tab, click the
Advanced Settings
button.
On the first tab (802.1X settings), check
Specify authentication mode
then click
OK
.
You will be prompted for your Network Authentication. Enter your
netID username
and
password
then click
OK
.
