Configuring an Android Device for UB's Secure Wireless Network

  1. From your home screen press the Menu* button.
  2. Press the Settings option.

  3. Press the wireless settings* option, labeled here as Wireless & networks.

  4. If needed, adjust the Airplane mode to be disabled (box should not be checked) and turn on Wi-Fi (box should be checked).

  5. Select the Wi-Fi settings option.
  6. Select the Add Wi-Fi network option.
  7. If desired, enter a password to protect the wireless network login information you will store, then press OK.

    This does not need to be your UB password, and should be a password you will remember.


  8. In the Add Wi-Fi network screen scroll through the settings to enter the following, where available:

    Network SSID: ubalt-secure.

    Security: 802.1x Enterprise (if not available, select WPA2 Enterprise or 802.1x EAP)

    EAP Method: PEAP

    Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2

    Identity: your UB netID

    Wireless password: your UB password

  9. Press Save.

Your connection to the ubalt-secure wireless connection should now be ready to use. Remember to update your UB password in the connection settings when you change your password.

*Some labels vary by phone. If you cannot determine which setting/menu to select, refer to the phone manual or contact the manufacturer for wireless network setup instructions.
