  • Can I use public transportation to get to and from UB?

    Absolutely. UB is well served by public transportation options like the MTA Light Rail, Metro Subway and bus system as well as MARC commuter rail, Amtrak and Bolt Bus out of Penn Station, just a block from campus.

  • Is parking available at transit stops?

    Yes, many transit stations have available parking. Please check availability, and be aware that lots do fill up.

  • What hours do MARC trains run?

    5:45 a.m.-9:15 p.m., Monday-Friday

  • What methods of payment can I use to purchase tickets for the Light Rail, Metro Subway and MARC?

    You can pay with VISA, MasterCard or Discover credit cards or with cash. All stations have electronic vending machines that take all forms of payment.

  • Does UB provide transportation to the nearest transit stops?

    UB provides free shuttle bus service to and from the Fitzgerald at UB Midtown, near the University of Baltimore/Mount Royal Light Rail station at Oliver Street and Mount Royal Avenue. It also provides free shuttle bus service to and from the State Center, near the Metro Subway entrance at Eutaw and Preston streets. Learn more about UB's shuttle bus service.


    After the shuttle bus stops running, UB community members can request escort service among UB facilities (including parking facilities) from the Department of Public Safety.

  • What's the best way to relay my experience, whether it's bad or good, on MTA transportation?

    MTA's Rate Your Ride service allows transit riders to provide real-time feedback about their ride. Visit the Rate Your Ride page, or send a text to 30802. This service is provided by the Central Maryland Transportation Alliance.

  • What about free transportation around town?

    It's called the Charm City Circulator. Check it out.

  • I don't have a car but occasionally I do need one. Is there a car rental service near UB?

    Zipcar, a car sharing service, operates in midtown Baltimore and has a stop on Maryland Avenue near the UB Student Center and another near Penn Station. Find out more about zipcar.

  • I would like to share a ride with someone else going to and from campus. Plus, occasionally I like to take trips out of town, sometimes on weekends or over holiday breaks. Do you offer a ridesharing service?

    Yes. It's called Zimride, and it is available exclusively to UB students, faculty and staff. Find out more about it.

  • I would like to find alternative transportation to and from campus, but I am concerned about needing a ride in an emergency. Any suggestions?

    Yes. There is a free service, Guaranteed Ride Home, that provides commuters who regularly (twice a week) carpool, vanpool, bike, walk or take transit to work with a safe and reliable ride home when one of life's unexpected emergencies arise. Commuters may take advantage of this service up to four times a year to get home for unexpected emergencies such as a personal illness or a sick child. Guaranteed Ride Home can also be used for unscheduled overtime when your employer mandates that you must stay late. Visit the Guaranteed Ride Home website to find out more. 

  • I would like to walk or bike to campus whenever possible. Any advice?
